Recent market and company developments associated with Welspun Living.
Gujarat floods have triggered substantial insurance claims, prompting a review of pricing. Insurers are now pushing for more disciplined pricing on large industrial risks. This reassessment follows expected flood-related claims exceeding five thousand crore rupees industry-wide. The Gujarat losses increase the case for location-based catastrophe exposure pricing. Global reinsurers' stance will largely determine the extent of this pricing correction.

In the quarter ended 30 June 2026, Welspun Living Limited reported its highest quarterly profit in the last five quarters. Revenue grew faster than total expenses, widening the profit margin. Tax payments rose sharply, but net profit still increased substantially compared to both the previous quarter and the same quarter last year. This marks a recovery from the low profitability seen in the middle of the previous fiscal year.
Revenue from operations reached ₹2,795.45 crore, a 23.66% increase compared to the same quarter last year (₹2,260.57 crore). On a sequential basis, revenue rose 14.78% from the preceding quarter.
Total expenses increased to ₹2,609.15 crore. While this is an absolute increase of ₹283.15 crore over the previous quarter, the rate of expense growth (12.17% sequentially) lagged behind the rate of revenue growth (14.78% sequentially). Over the year, expenses grew 20.49%, which remains below the 23.66% revenue growth. This dynamic indicates that the business generated additional sales without incurring a proportionate increase in operating costs, a pattern consistent with operating leverage.
The gap between revenue and expenses translated directly into improved pre-tax earnings. Profit Before Tax stood at ₹219.01 crore, a 76.64% increase year-on-year and a 74.93% increase from the previous quarter. This level of pre-tax profit is the highest in the last five quarters.
However, the flow of profit to the bottom line was moderated by tax obligations. Tax expense for the quarter was ₹57.75 crore, a 203.31% increase from the previous quarter and a 66.47% increase year-on-year. Consequently, while pre-tax profit grew by approximately 75% sequentially, Net Profit grew by 53.17% sequentially to ₹162.61 crore. Despite
Welspun Living delivered its strongest growth in seven quarters in Q1FY27, with consolidated revenue up 23.5% YoY to ₹2,828 crore and EBITDA margin expanding 140 bps YoY to 12.5%. Management attributed the performance to healthy volume recovery, operating leverage, and an improving business mix. Chairman B.K. Goenka highlighted that the India-UK Free Trade Agreement and improving US tariff visibility are shifting global sourcing in India's favor, with UK & Europe already growing over 20%.
MD & CEO Dipali Goenka guided for double-digit revenue growth and EBITDA margins in the low teens for FY27, citing structural tailwinds and diversified growth engines including the US pillow business (on track to double to USD 60mn) and domestic business (up 21.3% YoY). Innovation contributed 25% of sales, and the company achieved 100% green power at its Anjar facility. A subsequent note disclosed flooding disruption at the Vapi unit, but management stated assets are adequately insured.
